What happens when you give your winemakercarte blancheto have a bit of fun, when you give him the freedom to craft innovative wines that are all about the adventure in the process? Well, in this case, our winemaker Nathan dove headlong into nostalgia about his days on the trail, taking risks on a mountain bike and feeling that adrenaline rush.
Introducing…. FLYING MACHINE.
This side-project range represents what happens when courage and creativity take flight. It’s the opportunity for Nathan to play around with ideas that he wouldn’t normally be able to experiment with. We have recently taken quite a few leaps into newness with evolving chapters at Willespie. We hope you’ll join us on the journey.

Alter Ego II
100% Sauvignon Blanc, inoculated in tank, barrelled down halfway through ferment. 7 months in oak (seasoned), stirred (not shaken), unfined/unfiltered. Almond, Honeysuckle, Snow pea, Sherbert.
Hightime III
100% hand-picked Semillon, wildly fermented (aka fermented wild), partial whole bunch, 8 months in experienced oak, bottled with solids - unfined/unfiltered. Asparagus, Lemon Curd, Bruised Apple, Round & Glossy.
All Day Rosé
100% hand-picked Gamay, wild ferment and straight into older barrels to chill for 6 months. No woody flavours here, just good texture. Leafy, Rhubard, Boiled Lollies, Textured & Fresh.
RiddlerÂ
60% Verdelho / 37% Sauvignon Blanc / 3% Merlot. Thrown together for a 5-day pre-soak, whole berries intact. Wild ferment in neutral barrels. 6 Months in oak (occasional stir) before being bottled unfined/unfiltered. Toffee Apple, Nutmeg, Fluffy & Lasting.
Gamma RayÂ
100% hand-picked Gamay. Grapes grown with a good view from a small vineyard overlooking Rocky Point (Bunker Bay). 50% whole bunch wild fermented. Pressed off after 6 days into mature oak. Unfined/unfiltered. Confectionary, Spice, Forest Floor, Loud and Bright.
Red ZeppelinÂ
100% hand-picked Cabernet, fermented in picking bins in the vineyard. Traditional basket pressed. 18 months in seasoned oak. Unfined/unfiltered. Eucalyptus, Cassis, Raspberry, Plush & Plump.
White HouseÂ
Verdelho 80% / Chardonnay 20%. Hand-picked. Verdelho X5 / Chardonnay Wild. Verdelho cold stainless ferment / Chardonnay wild barrel ferment. 6 months in seasoned oak. Unfined/unfiltered. Pear, Lemon Rind, Grapefruit, Zesty & Crisp.
