The name Willespie is derived from the area of Willyabrup and the word esperer, - a French word meaning 'to hope'.

The distinctive label is from a painting by Fremantle artist Henryk Szydlowski and entitled "An Impression of the Willespie Jewel" - portraying the many visual facets of the vineyard.
